Dedicated to providing FREE emotional support services to cancer survivors, their friends and loved ones since 1988. Don't confront cancer alone.
OUR MISSION
The mission of the Cancer Caring Center is to help cancer survivors, their families and concerned friends cope effectively with the emotional impact of cancer through a variety of FREE support services.
WE BELIEVE
-
There is no right or wrong way to cope with the emotional aspects of cancer, we will offer a wide variety of services to help patients and families cope.
-
Everyone has the inner resources to cope effectively with cancer. Our primary task is to help him/her discover and use those resources.
-
You can move forward after a diagnosis of cancer and you do not have to confront cancer alone.
-
A person with cancer is a “survivor” not a victim.
-
It is important to acknowledge and work through all emotions experienced after being diagnosed with cancer; i.e. fear, anger, anxiety, grief, etc., in order to move forward and it is “OK” to experience these feelings.
-
A cancer survivor – no matter what stage of the disease he/she is in – has the human right to be part of their health care team.
-
The cancer survivor also has the right to choose the degree of privacy or communication that he/she wants or needs.
-
Cancer affects the entire family. It is essential that family and friends acknowledge and attend to their feelings and needs while offering positive emotional support to the person with cancer.
-
Children of cancer survivors have feelings and needs that must be addressed.
-
We believe all services should be provided free of charge.
